Tioman is easily accessible from Singapore or Kuala Lumpur with Berjaya Air, or via high speed ferries from Mersing, Johor.

Tioman was the location for the 1950's film ‘South Pacific’ and was ranked by Time Magazine in the 1970's as amongst the 10 most beautiful islands in the world!

Often described as a jewel in the sea, one early Malaysian legend claims Tioman is a beautiful dragon princess who stopped en-route to Singapore from China to admire her surroundings. So enraptured was she that she decided to transform herself into an island and remain there as a place of shelter and comfort to passing travellers.

Tioman, the largest and most spectacular of Peninsular Malaysia's east coast islands is 39km long and 12km wide. The island is covered in dense jungle and towering Mountain peaks soaring up from the island's stunning coastline. The warm, clear waters are teeming with tropical fish and resident turtles. Streams and waterfalls are found all over the island and the rainforest holds a spectacular array of flora and fauna.

Pulau Pemanggil

Pulau Pemanggil is situated 20 nautical miles from the south of Tioman Island (approximately 3-hour sail) and is renowned as an ‘Angler’s paradise, famous for its deep sea fishing and hunting grounds for marlins and tenggiri (mackerel).

However it also possesses other charms such as endless stretches of white sandy beaches and clear emerald waters which are ideal for snorkelling. As the island is still not known, the corals are almost untouched and the waters are free of pollution.

Coconut trees grow with abundance amidst the tropical vegetation along the coast. Towering majestically in the heart of Pemanggil Island is a huge boulder known locally as Batu Buau, long regarded as the sacred guardian of the island.

Pulau Aur

Malaysia boasts many tropical islands with white sandy beaches and clear blue waters and Pulau Aur is no exception. Traditionally known as a haven for fishermen, it now offers some of the world's best scuba diving. You can dive with whale sharks, discover immense coral gardens or dive on ominous, hulking shipwrecks. With deep, clear water, healthy corals and regular encounters with large pelagic species, the islands in the Aur group have the potential to become an international diving location.

Pulau Rawa

Rawa Island is a small, unspoilt coral island with palm fringed, secluded white beaches and a cool green, clear lagoon. Located 22 nautical miles from Tioman, (approximately 3.5hrs sail), it is one of Malaysia’s prettiest island gems.

There are many caves for exploration and offshore coral reefs teeming with fish and marine life. Try skin-diving or snorkelling to experience the magic of this untouched paradise up close.

Pulau Tinggi

The most pristine and untouched area of Tinggi Island is Pasir Panjang (Long Beach), which is nestled in a long stretch of golden sands. According to legend, Hang Tuah (a legendary Malay hero) stopped at this before he continued on his journey. The island got its name from a Malay word "Tinggi" which means tall.

Tinggi Island boasts crystal clear water, an abundance of greenery and spectacular sunsets. Due to the abundance of marine life, it is regarded as a fisherman’s paradise. A nearby island, 'Berlima' is a great place for swimming and snorkeling. You can also go jungle trekking on Tinggi Island. There is only one resort on the island.

Pulau Sibu - Sea Gypsy Resort

Pulau Sibu forms part of the Seribuat chain of islands and lies 12 kilometres off the East Coast of the West Peninsular of Malaysia.

Sea Gypsy Village Resort & Dive Base has been operated by the Wills family since mid 1992. This charming, rustic resort offers a unique island holiday where people can completely relax in harmony with nature. A delightful, open-air atap hut restaurant offers an incredible variety of cuisine including Malay, Indonesian, Chinese and Western style. Kids, toddlers and babies are well-catered for with special menu options and the restaurant can also cater for vegetarians, special diets or allergies.

Sea Gypsy’s infamous bar, ‘Dan's Dive’ offers a large range of spirits and cocktails as well as an excellent selection of wine at very reasonable prices. The view is spectacular and the bar is open as long as guests are still ordering!

The resort boasts a professionally-run, fully-equipped dive base offering boat diving, snorkelling trips and daily excursions.

At the Sea Gypsy Kids Club, there are plenty of activities to keep the children entertained and happy, allowing parents the opportunity to learn to dive, have a long lie in, read a book or simply relax in peace and quiet.

Suribat & Sembaling
To the west of Tioman Island lies an uninhabited pair of islands, Suribat and Sembaling. The islands feature a shallow coral-filled channel between them, ideal for snorkelling and a mangrove forest filled with small waterways.

Pulau Redang

Pulau Redang, situated 45km off the coast of Kuala Terengganu, is the largest of all Terengganu's islands. From the very first glance, Pulau Redang will enchant visitors with its compelling beauty. Incredibly azure waters, fringed by white sand, against the backdrop of verdant jungle-clad hills make picture-postcard views.

Pulau Redang archipelago comprises 9 islands, the Lima Island, Paku Besar Island, Paku Kecil Island, Kerengga Besar Island, Kerengga Kecil Island, Ekor Tebu Island, Ling Island, Pinang Island and Redang Island. This archipelago is teeming with an abundance of exotic marine fishes, turtles and coral reefs, and the excellent visibility makes it ideal for snorkelling and scuba-diving. Divers can look forward to thrilling encounters with black-tip sharks and giant clams and hawkshill turtles have occasionally been sighted there.

Redand Island boasts two beautiful beaches, the Long Beach or locally known as Pasir Panjang, situated on the east coast and Teluk Dalam Kecil, a sheltered cove tucked away on the northeast of the island. The beach is lined with a number of resorts, offering various styles of accommodation, including Berjaya Redang Resort, a five-star hotel.

* The best time to visit Pulau Redang & Pulau Lang Tengah is between April and October. Take note that most resorts are closed during the Northeast Monsoon, which blows from November to March.

Perhentian Islands

The Perhentian Islands are rated as some of the most beautiful islands in the world…a virtual paradise for snorkelling and diving in crystal-clear water or just for lazing on one of the white sandy beaches waiting for the coconuts to drop.

Pulau Perhentian is located in the South China Sea, 25 km from the coast of Kuala Besut. It consists of two islands, Pulau Perhentian Besar (Large Perhentian Island) and Pulau Perhentian Kecil (small Perhentian Island). Both islands are surrounded by beautiful palm-fringed white beaches and sparkling turquoise-blue sea.

The islands remain relatively untouched and the only permanent inhabitants live in a small fishing village on Perhentian Kecil. Apart from footpaths that cut through the jungle, there are no roads on the islands.

The only way to get around is by walking through the jungle or taking a sea taxi. If you tread carefully, you may even encounter some of the islands’ shy wildlife on the way, such as monitor lizards, fruit bats, squirrels or even the elusive mouse deer. Simple chalets and some moderately luxurious resorts line the picturesque beaches along with restaurants, dive centres and boat operators.

Perhentian Tuna Bay Island Resort is located on the south west side of Pulau Perhentian Besar (Big Island), an untouched part of the island surrounded by tropical jungle, on a broad expanse of powdery white beach.
